Boarding Care Services

Boarding care services are facilitated in the home of the petsitter. These services are not applicable or available for all Pals to pick up. These services need a home and pet screening by the Admin and the Client to establish care. Meet and greets may be facilitated in the Pals home to assess the home care standards to begin booking services. A Pals personal pets must be fully vaccinated and up-to-date on all their shots and must provide a full health screening. Additionally, two meet and greets would be facilitated prior to boarding services in the Pals home and in the clients home. Pals must meet the client within the clients home to develop a foundational relationship with the pet prior to boarding care. If Pals own pets of their own such as dogs, these personal pets may go on buddy walks with the client dog to assess relationships in a neutral area. Boarding services are booked similarly to overnight care on Time to Pet with the change of booking title and price.

The Meet & Greet Process

  1. In-Home Meet at the Pal’s Residence: Pal’s home may be screened and approved by PetPals Admin. The screening process involves both the Admin and Client to ensure the home meets PetPals ' boarding standards. Clients visit the Pal’s home to evaluate the space and discuss care expectations. This step helps ensure that the pet will feel comfortable and safe.

  2. Client's Home Meet: The Pal visits the client’s home to build rapport with the pet in its familiar environment. This allows the Pal to understand the pet’s routine and behavior more deeply.

  3. Buddy Walks for Pals with Personal Pets: If the Pal has their own dogs, they are encouraged to take a buddy walk with the client’s dog in a neutral area. This helps evaluate how the dogs interact in a low-stress environment before the client’s dog stays in the Pal’s home.

Important Guidelines for Boarding

  • Preparing the Space: Pals should set up a dedicated, safe area in their home for boarding pets, equipped with comfortable bedding, toys, and any essentials the client provides.

  • Personal Pet Interactions: If a Pal has their own pets, it’s crucial that these pets are acclimated to guests and can interact positively, as demonstrated during buddy walks.

  • Emergency Preparedness: Pals should be familiar with the pet’s health records and emergency contacts in case any urgent health concerns arise. Have a plan in place if a medical anomaly were to occur in your care with the client.

  • Daily Routine and Updates: Keeping the pet’s routine as close to home as possible helps reduce anxiety. Pals should provide regular updates to clients, including photos, messages, and any notable details about the pet’s stay.

  • Keep Consistent with the Pet’s Routine:
Follow feeding, walking, and play schedules as close as possible to the pet’s usual routine to keep them comfortable.

  • Monitor Interactions with Personal Pets:
Supervise all interactions between the client’s pet and your pets. Ensure toys, treats, and food are managed to avoid competition and conflicts.

Documentation and Supplies Check:

  • Food, treats, and supplements/medications

  • Leash, harness, and any comfort items

  • Crate or bed

  • Toys or grooming items
