Stancia Narro-Garcia

Pronouns: She/Her

I’ve been blessed in my life, growing up surrounded by animals for as long as I can remember. I was raised on a ranch, where I cared for chickens, goats, calves, horses, dogs, and cats. I formed bonds with each and every one of them, and I will forever be impacted by their unconditional love. We can learn so much from having animals in our lives—they truly make us better humans.

About 16 years ago, when I moved to Portland, Oregon, I began volunteering with the Feral Cat Coalition. My main role was trapping feral cats throughout the city and bringing them in once a month, on Fridays, to be spayed or neutered and receive the treatments the organization generously provides. At the end of the day, volunteers would pick up the cats, take them home to rest overnight in their cages, and then release them the next day where they had been trapped.
I followed every step of that process—except for the release. In the two and a half years I volunteered, I never released a single feral cat I trapped. Instead, I kept them, socialized them, and found them loving homes. That is the depth of my love for animals and my commitment to their well-being.

They deserve that.

Currently, I have four cats. One is diabetic and requires two insulin injections a day, along with specialized food. He was once a stray who showed up one day, and now he’s one of my babies.

What I can promise you, if you trust me with the care of your pet, is that I will treat and love them as if they were my own—100% of the time. Not for the money, but because they are gifts, and we are lucky to have the opportunity to share our lives with them.
